en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Dutch international crane, heavy lifting, and transport group Mammoet has taken delivery of the 150-tonne Grove GMK5150L-1e plug-in hybrid crane. This hybrid crane, launched at last year's Bauma exhibition, features a 60-meter main boom. Another model, the GMK5150XL-1e, boasts a 68.7-meter main boom. Both models share the same load charts and most components and functions as their conventional diesel counterparts, including the CCS control system with boom configurator and the MAXbase variable outrigger setup.

This hybrid crane combines an electric superstructure with a conventional five-axle chassis, equipped with a 180kWh battery pack that provides approximately five hours of emission-free operation. When operating while plugged in and charging, continuous runtime can be extended to about 20 hours depending on the application. The hybrid crane can be charged via AC or DC power sources, or through a 170kW generator integrated into the chassis. The battery pack also charges during travel, and when using HVO fuel, carbon emissions can be reduced by up to 90%.

Eelco de Leeuw, Operations Manager at Mammoet, stated, "Sustainability is one of the key drivers in our business. In the Netherlands and beyond, related requirements are increasing rapidly. Cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague have set zero-emission targets for many projects, and carbon footprint is increasingly being evaluated before contracts are awarded." Andreas Cremer, Mobile Crane Product Manager at Manitowoc, added, "The battery capacity of this equipment is meticulously designed based on comprehensive work profile analysis to ensure complete operational coverage. Combined with the 'charge-on-the-go' feature, these plug-in hybrid cranes offer flexibility and independence to tackle the most demanding tasks."
