en.Wedoany.com Reported - Euroports Ibérica at the Port of Tarragona has acquired a Konecranes Gottwald ESP.8B mobile crane, which is now fully operational at the Catalonia Terminal.

This crane will primarily be used for iron ore handling at the Navarre Terminal and the Catalonia Terminal, as well as for project cargo operations at the Aragon Terminal. The equipment arrived in Tarragona in mid-February from Konecranes' factory in Düsseldorf, Germany, transported by the vessel Elsborg and disassembled into multiple components. After unloading operations at the Aragon Terminal, Euroports and the manufacturer's technical team completed the full assembly of the crane and began functional testing.

Euroports previously managed several high-capacity units at locations such as the Cantabria Terminal and the Castile Terminal, including Liebherr LHM-600 and LHM-400 models. The addition of the new ESP.8B increases the company's total equipment count. This crane has a lifting capacity of 125 tons in heavy-lift mode and 63 tons in grab operation mode.

The model features an 8-axle, 32-wheel chassis with a turning radius of 15.8 meters, offering outstanding mobility. The crane is equipped with two 625 kW engines and a PowerCaps system that stores energy generated during braking for later use, thereby reducing fuel consumption. The cab design provides optimal visibility and is fitted with a camera monitoring system, air conditioning, and smoke detection. In emergencies, it is equipped with an escape ladder and a rapid descent system.
