en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 200MW/400MWh independent energy storage project at Yong'an Power Plant, invested in by Zhu Xiaoming, Lin Hui, and others (supervisors of the relevant chamber of commerce), officially broke ground on June 9, 2026, in Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan City. The project is invested and constructed by Zhongke Zhongneng Technology (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd. and undertaken by China Machinery International Engineering Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. On the day of the groundbreaking ceremony, leaders from provincial, municipal, and town governments, heads of local communities, major cooperative banks, project design and construction participants, new energy industry experts, and representatives from the industrial chain attended. Yang Song (President of the chamber of commerce), Wang Xiaochun (Secretary-General), and Zhong Shiqiang (Party Branch Secretary) were also present to witness the event.

He Zeliang, Chairman of Zhongke Zhongneng Technology, stated in his speech that against the backdrop of the national "dual carbon" strategy and the accelerated construction of a new power system, energy storage has become a core support for ensuring energy security and enhancing grid resilience. This project represents the company's important strategic deployment in Zhongshan for green energy. Yan Yongjian, head of China Machinery International Engineering Design & Research Institute, introduced the project design concept, energy storage technical standards, and the advantages of the prefabricated cabin grid-forming scheme. Zhong Jielin, head of the local community, stated that the community would provide comprehensive and meticulous supporting services throughout the entire process to accelerate project construction and strive for early grid connection and operation.

Located within the Yong'an Power Generation Co., Ltd. premises in Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan City, this project is the first grid-forming energy storage station in Zhongshan with black start capability. Covering an area of approximately 25 mu (about 1.67 hectares), the total construction scale is 200MW/400MWh. It adopts lithium iron phosphate battery technology, configures 80 sets of 5MWh liquid-cooled energy storage prefabricated cabins, and includes a supporting 220kV step-up substation. It will be connected to the 220kV Yong'an Power Plant bay via a 0.3-kilometer 220kV cable line. The project officially started in June 2026 and is planned to be completed and connected to the grid by October 2026. Its core functions include peak shaving and valley filling, frequency and voltage regulation, emergency backup, and black start, aiming to enhance the regulation capacity of the Central Guangdong power grid and the level of new energy consumption, ensure reliable power supply, reduce enterprise energy costs, and provide a demonstration for the development of shared energy storage in Central Guangdong.

As a key municipal green energy project, this initiative aligns with the "dual carbon" strategy and the direction of new power system construction. It will help improve local energy supply, strengthen the grid's power supply capacity, enhance the level of new energy consumption, and support Zhongshan's energy transition and industrial upgrading. The relevant chamber of commerce stated that it will continue to play a bridging role, deepen government-enterprise collaboration, and promote the development of regional green and low-carbon initiatives.
