en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) in Oman has awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a wind turbine manufacturing project, developed by Mawarid Turbine Company, a subsidiary of O-Green, Oman's state-owned renewable energy and industrialization platform. China Energy Engineering Corporation's Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Institute (CEEC Shanxi Institute) will serve as the EPC general contractor, overseeing the construction of approximately 90,000 square meters of industrial and ancillary facilities.

The scope of work includes blade and hub manufacturing workshops, an energy center, office buildings, integrated utility networks, wastewater treatment facilities, as well as road and landscape infrastructure. The initial project investment is estimated at approximately 70 million Omani Rials, marking Oman's first wind turbine manufacturing facility. The project will be implemented in phases, with the first phase focusing on wind turbine blade production and key components, while the second phase, in collaboration with local partners, will cover towers and other renewable energy equipment.

The planned annual production capacity is expected to range between 800 MW and 1,000 MW, positioning the facility as one of the largest wind turbine manufacturing bases in the region. Project technology will be provided through a partnership with Shanghai Electric Wind Power, which will serve as the technology licensor and knowledge transfer partner. The collaboration also includes workforce training programs aimed at developing local technical expertise and supporting Omanization goals. The EPC contract will be executed by China Energy Engineering Corporation's Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. (SEPEC), a subsidiary of CEEC specializing in global renewable energy and infrastructure engineering projects.
