en.Wedoany.com Reported - NorthstarMLS and REcore Solutions have jointly launched the patent-pending infrastructure layer Project NexusRE, designed to help brokers and Multiple Listing Services (MLS) understand how listing data is accessed, parsed, and used as artificial intelligence reshapes the market landscape.

As AI tools increasingly process listing data on the web, this data is being used in more places and systems than brokers can currently see or control. Positioned between MLS data and the growing number of websites, applications, and AI systems that use it, Project NexusRE provides a common framework for managing permissions, monitoring usage, and maintaining accountability in these interactions.

For brokers, Project NexusRE creates a standardized environment for AI tools used in daily operations, ensuring that information generated from MLS data follows the same rules and standards expected elsewhere in the market. Unlike approaches that attempt to centralize or replace local MLS systems, Project NexusRE aims to strengthen existing cooperative structures within the industry. It applies updatable permissions and policies regardless of how listing data is accessed, and is open to MLS systems and brokers of any size.

Art Carter, CEO of REcore, stated that the use and misuse of machine learning platforms are issues MLS systems have never encountered before. Project NexusRE will introduce governance, collaboration, rules, permissions, local market expertise, and trusted workflows, intervening between MLS databases and machine learning platforms to help the industry manage these connections in a way that protects trust and supports the entire real estate ecosystem.

Much of the infrastructure managing MLS and broker listing data was established long before AI-driven systems became part of daily real estate operations. Today, listing data rules are scattered across disconnected protocols, APIs, policies, and technical systems, making consistent enforcement difficult. Tim Dain, President and CEO of NorthstarMLS, noted that AI is reshaping how consumers search for homes, how brokers serve clients, and how businesses interact with real estate data, but much of the industry's infrastructure was built for a different era. The real estate industry faces a tremendous opportunity, along with the significant responsibility of building systems that can evolve with the times while maintaining confidence in data governance and sharing.

Built to address LLM connection standards, Project NexusRE aims to apply governance rules once and enforce them consistently across channels through permissions, compliance screening, and usage metering embedded in the infrastructure. The initiative is expected to provide contributing brokers with credit based on their contributions, offer a governed environment for building compliant real estate software, and provide additional real estate datasets (such as public records).

Project NexusRE, initiated by NorthstarMLS (as the patent assignee) and commercialized by REcore, is currently in active development, with initial testing expected to begin in summer 2026. NorthstarMLS and REcore invite MLS systems, associations, and industry partners to participate early, helping evaluate use cases and governance models, and engaging in deployment opportunities as development progresses.

NorthstarMLS provides multiple listing services, technology solutions, and market insights to real estate professionals in the Upper Midwest region, covering most of Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and parts of North Dakota. In 2025, the organization provided real estate professionals with over 97,000 listings, facilitated more than 75,000 real estate transactions, and contributed nearly $30.4 billion to the regional economy. REcore is a premier MLS SaaS and data licensing organization designed specifically for MLS systems and associations, created by MLS professionals, offering customizable technology, data solutions, and consulting services. Project NexusRE is a patent-pending governance infrastructure designed to help the MLS industry evolve into the AI era through enhanced governance, transparency, accountability, and broker-centric data control.
