en.Wedoany.com Reported - A consortium led by South Korea's Doosan Enerbility has secured a 530 billion won (approximately $350 million) contract to build an 870-megawatt power plant in Oman.

The power plant is scheduled for completion in 2029 and will help meet the growing electricity demand in southern Oman

The consortium includes Korea Western Power Company, Qatar's Nebras Power, EUDC—the development and investment arm of UAE's Etihad Water and Electricity—and Oman's Bahwan Infrastructure Services.

Doosan Enerbility will collaborate with China's Sepco-3 to undertake the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract, and will manufacture and supply key equipment such as steam turbines and generators.

The power plant is located in Duqm, 550 kilometers south of Muscat, and is scheduled for completion in 2029.

Lee Hyun-ho, head of Doosan's EPC division, stated that the company won the deal based on its experience executing projects in the Middle East and its EPC capabilities.

This month, Oman's Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones signed 10 agreements and memorandums of understanding, attracting investments worth nearly 3 billion Omani rials (approximately $7.5 billion) to establish projects in Duqm.
