Libya's Zaggut–Sidra Oil Pipeline Repaired and Resumes Operation

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 8, Libya's Waha Oil Company announced that after a leak was detected in the Zaggut–Sidra crude oil pipeline during routine inspection, the technical and maintenance team completed leak control and pipeline section repair within 24 hours, and resumed oil flow at 4 a.m. local time that day. The company has not yet disclosed the volume of the leak, the cause of the failure, or the scale of crude oil affected during the shutdown.

The pipeline is responsible for transporting crude oil to the Sidra export terminal on the Mediterranean coast. After the leak occurred, the on-site team carried out emergency response on the affected pipeline section, and resumed pumping after confirming that the leak was under control, keeping the pipeline outage to within one day.

Waha Oil is an affiliate of Libya's National Oil Corporation, operated in partnership between the Libyan side and TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips. Under normal operating conditions, its crude oil production typically ranges from 340,000 to 400,000 barrels per day, making it one of Libya's major crude oil producers; this figure represents the company's overall output and does not reflect the actual throughput of the pipeline where the leak occurred.
