en.Wedoany.com Reported - Google's artificial intelligence research division, Google DeepMind, announced on June 22 a partnership with independent film studio A24 to explore the application of generative AI in film and television production.
Google DeepMind stated that A24 is "the studio closest to visual creators in the industry," and the two parties will jointly develop new workflows and technologies suitable for production sets. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in New York, A24 has produced Oscar-winning films such as Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Under the collaboration agreement, A24 will use Google DeepMind's research findings and AI development infrastructure in its production processes; in turn, Google DeepMind will incorporate feedback from frontline creators into its R&D workflow. According to The Wall Street Journal, Google has invested approximately $75 million (about 11 billion yen) in A24. The agreement does not include Google's access to A24's existing film library or its data.
Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, stated in a press release that the best way to develop tools that support artists is to collaborate directly with them. In January of this year, the company screened the AI-animated short film Dear Upstairs Neighbors, co-produced with animators, at the Sundance Film Festival. In that project, researchers and animators jointly adjusted the video generation model "Veo" to validate a creator-led AI production workflow.
In recent years, the penetration of generative AI into film and television production has been driving closer collaboration between major tech companies and the entertainment industry. Amazon MGM Studios, under Amazon, and AWS launched "Project Nara," an AI production platform for professionals, and the "GenAI Creators' Fund," which provides funding and AI tools for creators, in May. The platform has already been used to order three animated series for Prime Video.
