Under the agreement, the two companies will first focus on memory and storage technology research aimed at improving how AI infrastructure is built and scaled. The collaboration includes analyzing the behavior of memory and storage subsystems under different AI workloads, as well as studying how various components interact within the broader AI infrastructure stack. Through this research, the parties aim to maximize memory performance and energy efficiency for Anthropic's AI training and inference workloads, while improving token economics—a metric that measures the cost efficiency of processing text and data in AI systems.

Micron has also signed a multi-year agreement with Anthropic to supply data center products, covering Micron's portfolio of high-bandwidth memory (HBM), DRAM, and solid-state drives (SSDs). Micron stated that this supply arrangement will support Anthropic's long-term growth plans.

On the internal deployment front, Micron plans to leverage Anthropic's Claude AI model to enhance its AI semiconductor manufacturing operations, developing new AI-driven approaches to large-scale semiconductor design, manufacturing, and operational management. Micron said it has already deployed Claude-based AI agents in engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise operations to improve speed and efficiency, particularly in software development and coding productivity.

In addition to the technical collaboration and supply agreement, Micron participated as a strategic investor in Anthropic's Series H funding round. Micron stated that the investment aims to create synergies through business strategy alignment, market expansion opportunities, and technical collaboration, reflecting the shared vision of both companies to advance next-generation AI infrastructure. On May 29, Anthropic announced that its Series H round raised $65 billion (approximately 99.87 trillion Korean won), with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also participating in the round.

Sumit Sadana, Executive Vice President of Micron, stated that from data centers to on-device AI in smart devices, the importance of memory and storage solutions has been permanently elevated, and Micron and Anthropic will combine their respective strengths to innovate and scale next-generation AI infrastructure. Tom Brown, Chief Computing Officer of Anthropic, noted that Anthropic's computing strategy relies on correctly building every layer of infrastructure, including hardware and software, and through collaboration with Micron, they will jointly develop systems optimized for AI workloads while ensuring a stable supply of key components such as memory.

Anthropic plans to continuously expand its computing capacity over the long term to meet the growing demand for its Claude AI model.
