en.Wedoany.com Reported - Whitehouse Machine Tools has been appointed as the sales and service agent for Mitsubishi Electric's wire-cut and die-sinking electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment in the UK and Ireland, adding this EDM brand to its product portfolio.

This partnership significantly expands the agent's business scope, adding EDM equipment to its existing supply of Brother, Spinner, and Biglia machining centers and CNC lathes. Mitsubishi Electric launched its first commercial die-sinking EDM machine in 1964 and its first wire-cut model in 1972. The company's European operations expanded rapidly in the late 1970s, with an official representative office established in Germany in 1978 and its first factory opened in Haddington, UK, in 1979. By 1984, Mitsubishi Electric had manufactured 10,000 EDM systems, with total production now reaching 75,000 units. In 1991, the company established an independent sales, marketing, and service organization in Ratingen, Germany, which remains the European factory automation headquarters to this day.

Whitehouse Machine Tools takes on Mitsubishi EDM agency

As part of the new agency agreement, two engineers, Scott Elsmere and Dean Barnes, have joined the Whitehouse team. With decades of technical sales experience and application expertise in the manufacturing industry, they have recently sold Mitsubishi Electric EDM machines, ensuring seamless customer service continuity.

The first demonstration machine—the MV2400S wire-cut model, used for machining parts with an accuracy of ≥ 3µm and a surface roughness as low as Ra 0.3µm—is arriving at the Kenilworth showroom and technology center.

Mitsubishi Electric EDM machines are renowned for their precision, high-speed production, and energy-saving features that can reduce power consumption by up to 40%, and are widely used in aerospace, automotive, medical device manufacturing, and high-end tooling sectors.

By integrating these innovative machines, Whitehouse Machine Tools is strengthening its reputation as a supplier of machining solutions to original equipment manufacturers and subcontractors. The partnership emphasizes customer support and technical service. Whitehouse Machine Tools has invested in establishing a dedicated, manufacturer-trained service department to support all its machine tool brands in the UK and Ireland, ensuring customers benefit from rapid engineering response times, ample local spare parts availability, and professional application support.

Peter Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at Whitehouse Machine Tools, said: "The Mitsubishi Electric EDM range is a natural fit with our existing CNC machine tool portfolio, complementing the areas of our current manufacturing partners without process overlap. The high precision, reliability, and energy efficiency that define Mitsubishi Electric EDM products perfectly align with the standards set across our entire CNC technology offering. Our introduction of Mitsubishi Electric EDM to the UK and Irish markets is further reinforced by the OEM's European technical support facility near Düsseldorf and two highly experienced local UK specialists—though new to Whitehouse Machine Tools, each expert has over 30 years of expertise supporting Mitsubishi Electric EDM products in our market. Therefore, for existing customers, it's business as usual."
