en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazilian Minister of Communications Frederico de Siqueira Filho attended the inauguration ceremony of Infovia 04 in Boa Vista, Roraima, on Thursday (2nd), a project aimed at expanding internet infrastructure in the Amazon region. As one of the core projects of the "Norte Conectado" plan, this new fiber optic line increases Roraima's data transmission capacity from 300 Gb/s to up to 96 Tb/s, significantly enhancing network connection stability, eliminating reliance on a single line, and reducing the risk of service interruptions that occurred in the state in 2025.

The project is coordinated by the Ministry of Communications (Ministério das Comunicações) and the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), executed by the Band Management Entity (Entidade Administradora da Faixa, EAF), and utilizes fiber optic cable technology submerged in the bed of the Amazon River. Once operational, it is expected to benefit approximately 460,000 people, enhancing network connectivity for public schools, healthcare facilities, government agencies, and research institutions, promoting digital inclusion, and expanding coverage of basic services.

Officials attending the ceremony also included Minister of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger Wellington Dias, Minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations José Guimarães, and Acting Governor of Roraima Soldado Sampaio. On the same day, the Minister also visited the Maria das Dores Brasil State School and launched the Digital Caravan (Carreta Digital) program in Boa Vista to provide internet access for training, while attending the graduation ceremony of students from the Computer Refurbishment Center.
