en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Baltic offshore wind market is experiencing strong growth, with double-digit expansion expected in the coming years. In Poland alone, annual offshore wind operations and maintenance (O&M) spending is increasing by nearly 40%. Føn Energy Services has signed a multi-million-euro long-term O&M contract with Baltic Power to provide integrated services for one of Poland's first offshore wind projects. The contract includes extension options and covers an integrated Balance of Plant (BoP) O&M plan for all subsea assets at Baltic Power's offshore wind farm, including inspection and corrective maintenance of foundations and cables, as well as project planning, vessel chartering and management, logistics, engineering, and procurement. It also includes environmental surveys to monitor marine growth and animal behavior in the area. Føn Energy Services CEO Sindre Rhrich stated that this contract demonstrates the company's ability to deliver integrated services for complex energy projects and represents an important step in establishing its presence in the Polish market. He looks forward to working closely with Baltic Power to ensure safe and efficient execution and long-term value creation.

Orange sunset over the sea

In project execution, Føn Energy Services will be supported by local Polish suppliers. Polish companies are already involved in Baltic Power's supply chain: offshore substation topsides are being built in shipyards in Gdańsk and Gdynia, onshore cables come from a factory in Bydgoszcz, and some foundations are sourced from Żary and Niemodlin. The localization rate over Baltic Power's project lifecycle is expected to exceed 21%, meeting the Polish industry agreement's requirement of 20% to 30% for first-phase projects, with second-phase targets set at 40% to 50%. Sindre Rhrich added that this contract marks the company's entry into the Polish offshore wind market, with a commitment to building a strong local presence and collaborating with regional partners to support efficient operations throughout the asset lifecycle.

Føn Energy Services' O&M plan will help Baltic Power optimize subsea asset utilization, reduce risks, and improve wind farm operational efficiency. Baltic Power is a joint venture between ORLEN and Northland Power, representing Poland's most advanced offshore wind project and the first to enter the construction phase. The project will install a total of 76 turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW, and is expected to meet 3% of the country's electricity demand. Baltic Power CEO and Management Board Chairman Maciej Stryjecki noted that establishing a supply chain for the project's O&M phase is unprecedented in Poland's energy industry. With the construction of the Łeba O&M base, the project is creating an extensive logistics and maintenance facility network and new jobs. Contracts for initial specialized maintenance services, subsea infrastructure inspections, geophysical surveys, and maintenance of offshore and onshore substations have already been signed. In the early stages of Baltic Power's operations, many Polish companies and research centers will participate in these tasks, providing a strong boost to the development of localized offshore wind content.

This contract further solidifies Føn Energy Services' position in the global offshore wind market. Previously, the company has provided integrated O&M services for the Moray West and Moray East offshore wind farms in Scotland, among the largest offshore wind projects in Europe. With the new contract in Poland, Føn Energy Services expects to increase its investment in the region and establish a strong local presence, creating lasting value for customers and the local supply chain.
