en.Wedoany.com Reported - Cox Infrastructure has announced a realignment of its global business operations, shifting its focus to markets with more stable regulatory environments. The company's board has approved the sale of its businesses in Africa and southern South America, and has engaged Rand Merchant Bank to handle assets in Morocco, Algeria, Oman, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa, which include seawater desalination concessions and combined-cycle power plants.

The plan also includes exiting subsidiaries in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay through negotiations with local partners. The new geographic strategy will focus primarily on Spain, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Chile, in addition to entering the water business sector in the southern United States.

Mexico has become one of the core markets in Cox's new era. In April, the company completed the acquisition of Iberdrola México. The transaction covers 2,600 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity in operation, of which 1,368 MW are combined-cycle and cogeneration plants, and 1,232 MW are wind and photovoltaic assets. The deal also includes commercial operations and a portfolio of approximately 12,000 MW of renewable energy projects at various stages of development.

According to Cox, this acquisition makes Mexico a priority market for the group and strengthens its integrated utility model, which combines power generation, commercial, and industrial capabilities under a single platform. The company previously announced plans to invest an additional $6 billion between 2025 and 2030 to develop new energy and water infrastructure in the country.

On a pro forma basis, Cox estimates that with the integration of Iberdrola México's operations, its 2025 revenue will reach €2.551 billion, and EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) will reach €786 million. The company stated that the transaction has improved its cash generation capacity and strengthened its long-term financial profile.
