en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Eicher Trucks & Buses to accelerate fleet modernization, aiming to replace old commercial vehicles in the Delhi National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) with cleaner BS-VI and electric vehicles, thereby improving regional air quality.

The collaboration is based on "supporting the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) plan to replace old trucks and buses in the Delhi-NCR region." The goal is to phase out more polluting BS-IV and older vehicles, replacing them with cleaner, more fuel-efficient options. This initiative supports the government's mission to improve air quality in the National Capital Region by promoting modern commercial vehicles. Under the MoU, eligible customers purchasing vehicles under this scheme can receive an 8% discount on the ex-factory price offered by Eicher Trucks & Buses.
Commercial vehicle owners in the Delhi-NCR region will benefit from a range of incentives provided by the central government, participating state governments, and original equipment manufacturers. These benefits include motor vehicle tax, registration fees, interest subsidies, and fuel-related incentives, subject to eligibility criteria. The scheme is managed through a central digital platform connecting MoRTH's VAHAN database and the vehicle scrapping ecosystem, enabling seamless verification and benefit processing.
S.S. Gill, Chief Commercial Officer of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, stated that for over 40 years, Eicher Trucks & Buses customers have driven the modernization of India's commercial vehicle industry. Staying true to this legacy, Eicher Trucks & Buses is pleased to join hands with MoRTH to implement its groundbreaking policy for replacing old and polluting vehicles in the NCR region. Under the scheme, Eicher customers will benefit from incentives offered by the Government of India as well as the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. This partnership reinforces Eicher's commitment to clean mobility and sustainable transportation in India.
