en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Oneko energy community in Oñati, Gipuzkoa, Spain, will showcase its first collective self-consumption photovoltaic project on the roof of the Eltzia building, with an installed capacity of 96.3 kWp, consisting of 180 modules distributed across a 360-square-meter rooftop area, generating an estimated annual output of approximately 101,000 kWh.

The presentation will be held on July 8 at 19:00 at the Kultur Etxea cultural center, open to the current 48 members and the public, with a new registration round starting the same day.

To distribute the generated energy, Oneko uses an energy package system: each package represents 0.5 kW of power, entitling the holder to a corresponding share of the generated electricity. A total of 192.6 packages are available, of which 163 are allocated to regular members, 10 to vulnerable members, and 19.6 as consideration for rooftop usage rights.

The economic model is based on a one-time initial contribution and periodic maintenance fees, with an estimated payback period of approximately five years and a system lifespan of 25 years.

Oneko has signed a cooperation agreement with Fagor, which, as a collaborative partner, provides €110,000 in funding and contributes expertise in cooperative management and community projects. The agreement was signed at the energy community headquarters in the Eltzia building in Oñati, with plans to allocate €10 per resident to collective self-consumption projects promoted in the Debagoiena region.

This project marks the first step in deploying a shared energy model based on distributed generation and citizen participation in Oñati. The energy community plans to gradually expand its installed capacity and membership as new municipal solar rooftops become operational.
