en.Wedoany.com Reported - Action Construction Equipment (ACE) and Japan's KATO Works have announced the formation of a new joint venture, ACE KATO Pvt. Ltd., to manufacture high-tonnage cranes in India for both the domestic and global markets.

The new company will focus on manufacturing truck cranes, crawler cranes, and rough-terrain cranes, with plans to expand its product portfolio in subsequent phases. Combining KATO's engineering and technical expertise with ACE's manufacturing capabilities, supply chain network, and pan-India market reach, the joint venture represents a strategic step by both parties to strengthen their presence in the lifting equipment sector and support growing infrastructure demands.
ACE KATO has established an 11-acre manufacturing facility in Haryana, with a planned investment of approximately ₹2 billion. This investment will be directed toward manufacturing infrastructure, technology integration, production systems, and product development. Additional investments are expected in future phases as the company scales up capacity and introduces new products. The facility is designed to serve both the domestic Indian and export markets, aligning with initiatives to position India as a manufacturing hub for construction and heavy equipment. The company expects its cranes to serve industries such as infrastructure, transportation, mining, ports, energy, metro rail, and industrial applications.
Under the partnership structure, KATO will lead product engineering, design, and technology development, while ACE will oversee manufacturing operations, procurement, and localization activities. A key strategic element of the joint venture is the gradual localization of components through ACE's supplier ecosystem, aiming to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce production costs, improve supply chain resilience, and shorten delivery lead times.
Sorab Agarwal, Executive Director of ACE, stated that the joint venture reflects the company's commitment to strengthening India's construction equipment manufacturing ecosystem, combining Japanese technology with Indian manufacturing capabilities to create a platform for producing high-tonnage cranes. Tomoyasu Kato, Director of KATO Works, noted that ACE's manufacturing strength, supplier network, and market reach make it a suitable partner, and that the joint venture will support the delivery of advanced crane solutions to customers in India and overseas markets.
The establishment of ACE KATO comes at a time when demand for specialized lifting equipment is expected to grow, driven by investments in infrastructure development, industrial projects, and logistics initiatives. It is poised to advance the localization of advanced crane manufacturing capabilities in India while strengthening the country's position in the global construction equipment value chain.
