en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indonesian telecommunications infrastructure and network provider MoraRepublic, together with Chinese submarine cable company HMN Tech, recently announced the completion of the factory acceptance test for the wet-end equipment of the Moratelindo International Submarine Optical Cable System-3 (MIC-3).

The submarine cable system is designed to connect Singapore with Batam Island, deploying two 32FP branching units along the route. As part of the project, HMN Tech will deploy two 32FP branching units, each equipped with 16FP optical switching technology. These branching units will enable MoraRepublic to extend MIC-3 to other potential destinations such as Jakarta.
HMN Tech stated that its optical switching technology will allow MIC-3 to support flexible future access for two 16FP systems, enabling precise and flexible switching between the trunk and branch segments, while adapting to incremental bandwidth demands and providing ample expansion capacity.
MoraRepublic—formerly known as Moratelindo before reaching a merger agreement with MyRepublic Indonesia in late 2025—said that MIC-3 will facilitate digital infrastructure connectivity within the Singapore-Johor-Batam corridor and support the development of artificial intelligence and data centers in Southeast Asia.
Michael C. McPhail, Chief Technology Officer of MoraRepublic, stated in a press release that the MIC-3 submarine cable project is a key strategic initiative for regional digital connectivity, providing a high-capacity gateway connecting Indonesia to Singapore. With its reserved flexible branching capabilities, it will enable broader high-capacity network coverage in the future, supporting the development of the regional digital economy.
MIC-3 is one of several submarine cable systems being built along this route. Telin, the international business arm of Indonesian telecommunications company Telkom, is collaborating with BW Digital to develop the Nongsa-Changi submarine cable, and with Singtel to develop the Indonesia Singapore Submarine Cable System (INSICA).
