en.Wedoany.com Reported - Zoomlion's 3,600-ton ZCC89000 crawler crane completed the lifting of the world's largest single-piece forged and welded hydrotreater at a petrochemical project of Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical within six days, breaking two world records for the heaviest single lift and the fastest lifting speed.

From January 3 to 8, the crane lifted a 3,037-ton, 67.57-meter-high residual oil slurry bed hydrotreater. Three reactors with a combined weight of nearly 10,000 tons were all installed in place during this period. During the lifting process, the crane's load moment reached 92,800 ton-meters, supported by a 3,160-ton counterweight for stability.
Hydrotreaters are critical pressure vessels in refineries and petrochemical complexes, used to convert heavy petroleum fractions into lighter, more valuable products under high temperature and pressure. The installed unit features a single-piece forged and welded structure, eliminating the need for on-site sectional assembly, reducing welding weak points, and enhancing operational safety and reliability, though it imposes extremely high demands on transportation and lifting.
The entire installation combination was completed within six days, shortening the project timeline by approximately two months. This operation is part of the third phase of Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical's new materials plan, aimed at increasing the utilization rate of each barrel of crude oil and reducing raw material waste.

Through this operation, Zoomlion demonstrated the capabilities of ultra-heavy cranes in large-scale industrial projects. Such equipment is commonly used in the installation of refineries, power plants, and wind farms, and improvements in lifting capacity directly impact project progress and cost control.
Refinery modernization and energy projects in Brazil also rely on hydrotreaters and large cranes. Hydrotreating units are used to reduce sulfur content in fuels, operating on the same principle as the giant reactor installed in China. As Brazilian refinery projects resume and pre-salt production expands, demand for heavy equipment and large cranes is expected to continue growing.

During this lifting operation, the Zoomlion ZCC89000 crane, with its 3,600-ton lifting capacity, precisely positioned the 3,037-ton single-piece hydrotreater, showcasing the control precision and efficiency of heavy engineering equipment under extreme loads.
