en.Wedoany.com Reported - Toyota Motor plans to open a second factory in Sorocaba, São Paulo State, Brazil, in early November 2026, a key step in the company's production restructuring in Brazil. As part of a total investment of 11 billion reais planned through 2030, the new plant will create approximately 2,000 jobs and will operate in an industrial park along the Castello Branco Highway.

The new factory aims to improve production efficiency and reduce emissions by adopting modern manufacturing technologies, preparing Toyota for a new mobility phase that includes hybrid powertrain systems. Meanwhile, Toyota has completed the transfer of production of the Corolla, the only model produced at the Indaiatuba plant, to Sorocaba, ending the nearly three-decade industrial phase of that facility. The Indaiatuba plant, which began operations in 1998 and produced over 1 million vehicles cumulatively, is scheduled to cease production activities on June 30, 2026.
The second factory in Sorocaba is part of Toyota's efforts to expand its presence in Brazil and restructure its industrial footprint. The company views this investment as a significant move to enhance competitiveness, innovation capacity, and production scale. By expanding in a familiar region, the new plant will strengthen the foundation supporting Toyota's strategy in Brazil for the coming years.

With the closure of the Indaiatuba plant, all production will be consolidated at the Sorocaba industrial park. The company thanked the city and the employees who worked at the plant, stating that the transition process was conducted transparently, offering options such as job transfers and voluntary severance plans, which employees could participate in voluntarily without unilateral dismissals.
Toyota's total investment plan in Brazil through 2030 amounts to 11 billion reais. The new factory is designed with a focus on production efficiency and emission reduction to support the brand's transition to hybrid powertrain technology. This move indicates that the automaker aims to align its Brazilian operations more closely with the transformation trends in the automotive industry, where efficiency and environmental impact are increasingly critical in decision-making.

Toyota's plan encompasses three aspects: employment, industrial structure, and technology. The expansion creates approximately 2,000 jobs while concentrating production in Sorocaba, marking the end of the Indaiatuba phase. With the new factory scheduled to begin production in November 2026, Toyota enters a new phase in Brazil, a decision that will reshape its operations in the country.
