en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to Cirium data, a total of 29 scheduled routes from the United States to Europe were canceled between the third quarter of 2025 and the same period in 2026, of which 24 involved European airlines and 5 were operated by US airlines. These routes were all operated during the peak summer season and have not been converted to other seasonal operations.

Norwegian Atlantic Airways Boeing 787-9 aircraft

Norwegian Atlantic Airways ended the highest number of routes, including Athens to Los Angeles, Berlin to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Miami and Los Angeles, Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles, and Rome to Los Angeles. The defunct Icelandic low-cost airline PLAY operated three routes from Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to Baltimore, Boston, and Stewart during the 2025 review period, all of which have now been canceled. Icelandair also canceled the Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to Detroit route, which had the lowest load factor among the airline's US routes.

London Gatwick Airport (LGW) was the most affected, with Delta Air Lines exiting, British Airways terminating routes to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Las Vegas, and Norwegian Atlantic Airways canceling its original seasonal flights. Aer Lingus canceled two routes to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Orlando due to the cessation of all transatlantic services from Manchester Airport (MAN). IberoJet previously offered direct flights from Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) to Orlando (MCO), but after Iberia launched the route in October 2025, IberoJet decided not to return. Neos decided to stop seasonal services from Bari/Palese International Airport (BRI) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) due to United Airlines' planned inaugural flight from Newark to Bari in May 2026.

By timeline, in August 2025, Azores Airlines canceled the Terceira to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) route. In September, Discover's Frankfurt to Anchorage, Edelweiss Air's Zurich to Denver and Seattle, IberoJet's Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) to Orlando (MCO), multiple Norwegian Atlantic Airways routes, and three PLAY Airlines routes were terminated. In October, British Airways' London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Las Vegas, Condor's Frankfurt to Miami, Neos' Bari/Palese International Airport (BRI) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), three Norwegian Atlantic Airways routes, and TUI Airways' Birmingham to Melbourne, Florida were canceled. In November, Norwegian Atlantic Airways' Rome to Los Angeles route ended. In January 2026, Icelandair's Keflavik International Airport (KEF) to Detroit route was canceled. In February, Aer Lingus' Manchester Airport (MAN) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) route was terminated. In March, Aer Lingus' Manchester Airport (MAN) to Orlando route ended. In April, Level's Barcelona to San Francisco route was canceled.

On the US airline side, a total of 5 routes were canceled. In August 2025, United Airlines ended its Newark to Stockholm Arlanda flights, which were operated by the Boeing 757, marking the longest transatlantic operation for the Boeing 757. The following month, Delta Air Lines exited the New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to London Gatwick Airport (LGW) market, which the airline had re-entered in April 2023, directly competing with British Airways (which has exited), JetBlue (which has exited), and Norwegian Atlantic Airways (now only seasonal). The competitive outcome prompted the three airlines to consolidate operations at Heathrow Airport. In October 2025, Delta Air Lines stopped its New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Geneva flights, and JetBlue canceled its New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Amsterdam flights. In January 2026, Delta Air Lines ended its New York to Brussels service but continued operating the Atlanta to the European capital route. Source: Cirium aviation data.
