en.Wedoany.com Reported - Julio Anativia, the Presidential Representative of Chile's Biobío Region, visited San Vicente Port, operated by San Vicente International Terminal (SVTI), to gain firsthand insight into the port's operations, logistics capabilities, and the challenges it faces in further development. The port is one of the main ports in southern Chile. Cristian Wulf, General Manager of the Talcahuano Port Authority, and Juan Pablo Santibáñez, General Manager of San Vicente International Terminal, welcomed the Presidential Representative and provided an overview of the terminal's operations and its contribution to Chile's foreign trade.

During the visit, the Presidential Representative stated that San Vicente Port is a strategic location for Chile and the Biobío Region, and a very important port in southern Chile. He noted that there are still numerous projects and investments that can be strengthened through port activities, covering the port itself and related infrastructure and logistics sectors. Port activities create direct employment opportunities and bring opportunities to related industries, making the strengthening of industrial and logistics development an important opportunity.

Cristian Wulf added that the port faces significant challenges in enhancing the port environment, improving "last mile" access, and advancing strategic projects such as the extension of the inter-port corridor and the northern railway corridor.

San Vicente Port is a multi-purpose terminal handling containers, general cargo, bulk cargo, and strategic products required by the economy of southern Chile, including forest products, fishery products, steel, and various raw materials. The terminal has five berths with a total length of over 1,000 meters, covers an area of 40 hectares, has a warehouse area of approximately 60,000 square meters, and is capable of handling refrigerated cargo and large vessels.

Highlighting the terminal's strong performance, Juan Pablo Santibáñez stated that the terminal is strengthening relations with authorities in Argentina's Neuquén Province to advance a logistics corridor that will more efficiently connect these goods with the Asian market.
