en.Wedoany.com Reported - Movecta, one of Brazil's largest logistics operators, announced in São Paulo that it will invest over R$100 million in the coming years to expand its operations at the Port of Suape in Pernambuco and strengthen the company's presence in the Northeast. The first phase of the project is expected to involve an investment of approximately R$20 million, aimed at doubling the customs area of the Customs Logistics and Industrial Center (CLIA), thereby increasing the company's operational capacity in the region.
With this investment, Movecta will increase its available area from the current 96,000 square meters to 180,000 square meters, becoming the largest back-port operator within the state's bonded area. These investments are part of the Movecta 2030 plan, which aims to double revenue in the company's priority areas and expand its presence in strategic regions for Brazilian logistics and foreign trade.
The project will add 84,000 square meters of customs clearance area and will include corrective measures required by the Federal Revenue Service, such as perimeter fencing, implementation of a closed-circuit television monitoring system, road improvements, and other interventions necessary for customs operations, including the expansion of infrastructure to serve the chemical industry. In addition to the physical expansion, the company will also invest in technology, equipment, and infrastructure to enhance its service capacity for industries in the Northeast, providing larger-scale, safer, and more efficient integrated logistics solutions.
The Suape unit primarily serves the machinery, chemical, plastics, beverage, and automotive sectors, which continue to grow in the region. In 2025, the Suape operational site handled over 30,000 containers and 544,000 tons of general cargo, reinforcing its importance in the Northeast's logistics chain. "We are taking a significant step towards improving logistics efficiency, expanding our ability to serve increasingly complex operations, and supporting the growth of clients who rely on the region's specialized infrastructure. This investment reinforces our long-term commitment to the state of Pernambuco and the development of Brazilian foreign trade," said Rodrigo Casado, CEO of Movecta.
This expansion should also boost job creation. It is expected to generate up to 100 jobs in the coming months, involving activities related to construction and terminal operations. This expansion comes at a time when the Port of Suape is consolidating its position as one of Brazil's main logistics hubs. Currently, the port complex is the sixth busiest public port in Brazil and leads the country in liquid bulk handling and coastal shipping.
In 2025, the Port of Suape handled 24.2 million tons of cargo and maintained a prominent position in strategic areas such as containers and vehicles, reinforcing its importance for Brazilian foreign trade. The port's strategic location also serves production chains relevant to the regional economy, such as textiles, automotive, chemicals, and consumer goods. Pernambuco state is home to Brazil's largest denim production center, accounting for approximately 18% of national output, with over 200 million pieces produced annually and sold throughout the country.
With 72 years of operational history, Movecta has become a preferred logistics provider in the Brazilian market. The company operates in the states of São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Pernambuco, with eight operational units, six of which are customs terminals, totaling over 450,000 square meters. Movecta is the only company in its sector with bonded terminals in Brazil's main maritime foreign trade hubs and is noted for operating the only refrigerated bonded terminal at the Port of Santos. The company also holds a significant position in chemical product logistics and focuses on providing integrated logistics solutions for various sectors, including beverages, pharmaceuticals, electronics, machinery, project cargo, and less-than-container-load (LCL) freight.
