en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Suape Port Complex (Complexo de Suape) recently signed a basic sanitation agreement worth BRL 46.1 million, fully funded by the state-owned port company, to implement infrastructure improvements in surrounding communities. The agreement, valid for 24 months, was signed by Suape Port, Pernambuco State Water Company (Compesa), and BRK Ambiental, defining the responsibilities of each institution in project execution.

This investment is expected to benefit approximately 14,800 residents in four areas of Cabo de Santo Agostinho. The project will cover neighborhoods including Vila Claudete, Nova Vila Claudete, Nova Tatuoca, and Vila Cepovo, directly benefiting 3,705 households. The plan includes constructing and rehabilitating sewage treatment stations, pumping stations, collection networks, apartment branch lines, and connections to the public network, as well as building sidewalks and installing grease traps. Upon completion, these communities will have more modern and efficient sanitation infrastructure, positively impacting public health, environmental protection, and quality of life.
Suape Port President Armando Monteiro Bisneto emphasized that this initiative represents a historic compensation and recognition of social debt to these families. The development of Suape Port must be directly linked to improvements in the quality of life of surrounding communities. Douglas Nóbrega, President of Pernambuco State Water Company (Compesa), stated that expanding basic sanitation reinforces the state government's guideline of combining economic development with improved quality of life for residents, and the company will provide all necessary technical support for project implementation.
Also attending the event were BRK Ambiental President Ricardo Cerqueira; directors and employees of the state-owned port company; state deputies Jeferson Timóteo and Romero Sales Filho; as well as advisors from the Pernambuco state government and a community representative.
These projects represent a historic advancement for the beneficiary communities, helping to expand access to sewage collection and treatment, reduce waterborne diseases, protect rivers and water bodies, recharge groundwater sources, and improve urban conditions in the region. This initiative not only expands sanitation infrastructure but also represents an investment in public health, environmental protection, and quality of life for families living around the industrial port complex.
