en.Wedoany.com Reported - After the "Minor Heat" solar term on July 7, many parts of China have experienced sustained high temperatures, leading to a surge in electricity load and entering a critical phase for ensuring power supply during the summer peak. Power departments in Jiangsu, Henan, Shandong, and other regions are taking measures such as strengthening grid construction, applying intelligent technologies, and preparing for emergency repairs to ensure reliable power supply and stable electricity for residents.
The Jiangsu Provincial Meteorological Service Center predicts that this summer, the average temperature in Jiangsu will be 1 to 2 degrees Celsius higher than usual, with possible periodic heatwaves. The AI dispatcher of the Jiangsu power grid can simulate extreme weather conditions three days in advance, coordinating midday absorption and evening peak supply. Over 270 transmission lines of 500 kV and above are monitored around the clock using satellite remote sensing and AI algorithms, automatically identifying hazards such as floating objects and tree obstructions, with recognition efficiency improved by more than 10 times compared to manual inspections. In terms of grid reinforcement, Nantong completed 33 summer peak projects before July, increasing the power supply capacity of the southeast and northwest zones by approximately 300,000 kW. The Haimen area has adopted a load-center energy storage model in the main urban area, accelerating the grid connection and joint commissioning of energy storage projects to achieve nearby peak shaving and valley filling. State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company has listed the rectification of single-power-supply risks in high-rise residential communities as a key action under the "Electric Warm Current" 2026 "Practical Projects for the People" initiative. As of the end of June, State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company had completed dual-power-supply transformations for 55 high-rise communities under a "one community, one strategy" approach.
Henan has recently experienced sustained widespread high-temperature, sunny, and hot weather, leading to a sharp increase in air conditioning load and a simultaneous rise in electricity demand for industrial, commercial, and residential use. At 7 p.m. on July 3, at the No. 31 tower of the 110 kV Jingfa Line in Zhumadian City, operation and maintenance personnel from State Grid Zhumadian Power Supply Company replaced three-phase jumper clamps to eliminate equipment overheating hazards. During the high-temperature power supply period, the company had 185 emergency repair teams and 487 repair vehicles on standby around the clock to ensure the safe operation of 240 substations across the city. State Grid Gongyi Power Supply Company, in response to sudden power failures and extreme load fluctuations, has continuously improved its summer peak emergency supply system, refined contingency plans for various emergencies, fully stocked emergency supplies, and conducted regular emergency repair drills. By precisely addressing the electricity needs of key enterprises, medical institutions, transportation hubs, and essential commercial outlets in its jurisdiction, it has established dedicated supply guarantee records. Hu Zhihua, director of the Construction Department of State Grid Henan Electric Power Company, stated that this year, 35 key main grid projects for the summer peak have been arranged, including the 500 kV Xuchang South power transmission and transformation project and the capacity expansion of the Guanju Line, and 2,314 distribution network summer projects have been completed ahead of schedule, adding a new distribution transformer capacity of 1.6 million kVA.
Liaocheng in Shandong is also facing a rise in electricity load under high-temperature and high-humidity weather. Li Yongxu, director of the Operation and Inspection Department of State Grid Liaocheng Power Supply Company, introduced that the company routinely conducts precise operation and maintenance of equipment conditions, implements 1,168 grid maintenance plans in a closed-loop manner, completes pre-testing and defect elimination for all lines, transformers, and switchgear, and performs key inspections on high-temperature, heavy-load equipment. With the successful power transmission of the new 220 kV line project to strengthen the Lubei grid in Binzhou, Shandong, State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company has fully completed the construction tasks for 12 key summer peak projects this year, adding a total of 3.852 million kVA of 110 kV and above transformer capacity and 343.4 km of transmission lines. After these projects are put into operation, the local grid structure of the Shandong power grid will be further improved.
