en.Wedoany.com Reported - Relying on its qualification under the EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Intertek Group has issued the world's first NB certificate for commercial and industrial cabinet-type energy storage products to Wanbang Digital Energy Co., Ltd. (Star Charge) and the world's first NB certificate for containerized energy storage systems to Shenzhen Yuanxin Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. (Yuanxin Energy Storage). These two certificates cover commercial and industrial distributed energy storage and large-scale centralized energy storage scenarios, respectively, providing compliance benchmarks for Chinese energy storage companies in niche markets to go global and helping relevant enterprises address green trade barriers in the EU.

The EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 officially took effect on August 18, 2025, replacing the previous Battery Directive 2006/66/EC, establishing a control system covering the entire lifecycle of battery design, production, use, and recycling. Compliance requirements such as carbon footprint management, recycled content ratio, supply chain due diligence, and battery passports have become key thresholds for Chinese energy storage products to enter the EU market.
Intertek is one of the first notified bodies under the EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 and is currently the only notified body globally capable of conducting safety conformity assessments for Article 12 stationary battery energy storage systems. Its global service network can provide Chinese battery industry chains with one-stop, full-chain compliance services ranging from strategic consulting to EU conformity assessment.
Li Hongqing, CEO of Star Charge, stated that obtaining the world's first NB certificate for commercial and industrial cabinet-type energy storage products under the EU Battery Regulation is a result of the company's deep commitment to technological innovation and adherence to compliant operations, confirming that the products meet the highest EU compliance standards and laying a solid foundation for expanding into the European market. Zhang Yu, Certification Director of Yuanxin Energy Storage, said that obtaining the world's first NB compliance certificate for containerized energy storage systems is a significant reflection of the company's capabilities in product safety, system design, and global compliance, laying the groundwork for further deepening its presence in the European market. Yuanxin Energy Storage will continue to refine its products and compliance systems based on global market demands.
Li Qiong, Vice President of Intertek Greater China, pointed out that as a pioneer in EU Battery Regulation compliance services, Intertek focuses on the globalization needs of Chinese energy storage companies, providing customized compliance solutions through its exclusive qualifications and global service network. This collaboration in helping Star Charge and Yuanxin Energy Storage obtain the world's first certifications for two product categories sets a benchmark for large-scale containerized energy storage and commercial and industrial cabinet-type energy storage in overseas markets. Sunny Rai, President of Intertek's Electrical, Electronic & Transportation Technology Division, added that energy storage batteries are core infrastructure for the new energy industry. Through this partnership with the two companies and achieving this milestone certification in the industry, Intertek will continue to leverage its technical services to support Chinese energy storage companies in reaching global markets.
