Based on the new-generation Rambus sixth-generation Registering Clock Driver (RCD06), the chipset offers 20% higher bandwidth than the previous generation, supporting RDIMM operation at speeds up to 9600 MT/s, unlocking greater bandwidth and capacity for agentic AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and other data-intensive workloads.

The accelerating shift of AI from model training to large-scale inference and agentic workflows is driving structural growth in server memory demand. These workloads are highly iterative and memory-intensive, requiring significantly higher bandwidth and capacity during execution. In large language model inference scenarios, technologies such as key-value (KV) caching reduce computational overhead and accelerate token generation by storing and repeatedly accessing context data, further increasing memory capacity and bandwidth requirements. Meanwhile, CPU platforms are increasing core counts and memory channel densities, amplifying the need for faster DIMMs and higher aggregate memory bandwidth. These trends collectively make memory performance and power delivery critical determinants of system throughput. The chipset is a complete solution that, in addition to the RCD06, includes the PMIC5030 Power Management IC, providing efficient, high-current power delivery at low voltages to support advanced DDR5 RDIMM configurations. The chipset also features a Serial Presence Detect (SPD) Hub with an integrated temperature sensor and a dedicated temperature sensor IC, enabling critical module telemetry, configuration, and thermal monitoring functions.

By integrating clocking, control, and power management into a coherent solution, the chipset ensures robust signal and power integrity at high data rates, reduces design complexity for memory module manufacturers, and improves overall system reliability. This level of integration is particularly critical as server architectures scale to support higher processor core counts, larger memory capacities, and sustained AI workload operation.
