en.Wedoany.com Reported - Spain's Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, through Adif (Spanish Railway Infrastructure Authority), announced that the main structure of the new Parla Norte station on the C-4 line of the Madrid Cercanías commuter rail network has been completed. Designed as an urban landmark, the passenger building features a ribbed enclosure structure that provides passenger protection and crowd flow management, serving as a typical example of sustainable architecture.
The project is part of the improvement plan for Madrid's commuter rail services, with a total investment of €16.5 million, aimed at promoting sustainable mobility in the city of Parla and its surrounding areas.

The passenger building is a single-story structure divided into three areas: a central hall, a commercial zone planned as a café, and spaces for station operations and passenger services. The central hall is located beneath the metal "rib" structure, featuring a glass curtain wall and photovoltaic panels installed on the roof. The roof's tilt angle is designed to optimize natural lighting and maintain indoor climate comfort.
The main structure of the platforms has been completed, maintaining a consistent architectural style. The platforms are connected by an accessible underground passage equipped with elevators, escalators, and fixed stairs.
Adif has also completed the construction of an adjacent parking lot with 49 spaces, including electric vehicle charging points and motorcycle parking. The surrounding area includes a Kiss & Train (drop-off) zone, as well as dedicated parking areas for taxis and emergency buses. The passenger building and parking lot are connected by a pedestrian urbanized space, which reserves areas for parking and charging bicycles, electric scooters, and other mobility devices.
The project is now in its final phase, involving the installation of electrical, lighting, HVAC, anti-intrusion, CCTV, telecommunications, and fire protection systems. In coordination with Renfe (Spanish National Railway Company), the future station operator, the Passenger Information System (SIV) will be deployed. Renfe will provide monitors, information screens, digital displays, clocks, speakers, and intercoms, as well as corporate signage, furniture, ticket gates, and automatic ticket vending machines. Additionally, work related to railway control, command, and signaling subsystems remains to be completed. Once these tasks are finished, the project will apply for an operational permit from the National Railway Safety Agency (AESF).
Located in the northeastern part of Parla, between Getafe Sector 3 station and Parla station, Parla Norte will serve emerging urban development projects in the area, providing more passengers with access to urban and intercity commuter rail services and alleviating pressure on the existing Parla station. The station is planned to connect with other clean transportation modes, such as light rail, in the future. The C-4 line is the second most in-demand line on the Madrid Cercanías network, with Parla station ranking seventh in passenger traffic. A functional study conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility indicates that Parla Norte station has a potential daily passenger flow of over 14,000, saving commuters a total of 900 hours of travel time per day.
