According to a statement from this state-owned enterprise, the resolution allows the Salamanca plant to continue its strategic, highly specialized industrial activities while adhering to the highest nuclear safety and radiation protection standards. This permit is the final step in the process, following a favorable report issued by the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) on April 17 of this year. The decision complies with the regulations governing nuclear and radioactive facilities and other activities related to exposure to ionizing radiation, and confirms that all conditions required for the plant's continued safe operation over the next decade have been met.

Enusa noted that this milestone consolidates its position as a key state-owned enterprise in the nuclear fuel cycle and reinforces Juzbado's status as an industrial benchmark in Spain and Europe. The company added that, thanks to advance planning, a clear industrial strategy, and a strong international presence, it is well prepared to address the new energy landscape, driving innovation, sustainability, and high-tech value projects.

The Juzbado plant is Enusa's operational core and one of its main industrial assets. With over 40 years of history, it is one of the most modern facilities in the sector, investing nearly 5 million euros annually in technology, process modernization, continuous improvement, and reducing environmental impact. Additionally, the plant currently holds contracts ensuring production volumes beyond 2035. Enusa has customers in various countries and has established strategic alliances with Westinghouse and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH), enhancing its capacity to supply fuel to European nuclear power plants and contributing to supply security in an energy context characterized by the need for autonomy, stability, and diversification.

Enusa President Mariano Moreno stated that, following the positive evaluation from the Nuclear Safety Council, the minister's final approval represents a decisive step for the Juzbado plant and Enusa. He said this is a recognition of technical rigor, safety culture, and the commitment of all those who have worked toward this goal over the years. This renewal allows the company to look to the future with confidence, continue creating industrial value, and keep contributing to the sustainable development of strategic facilities in Spain and Europe.
