en.Wedoany.com Reported - T-Mobile is developing an AI-based autonomous network, aiming to achieve real-time adaptive capabilities without human monitoring. Ankur Kapoor, Chief Network Officer at T-Mobile, revealed at DTW Ignite 2026 that the company seeks to extend automation from core infrastructure, radio access network (RAN), and IP networks to the customer experience domain. The ultimate goal is not only to improve operational efficiency but also to directly address customer pain points, ensuring continuous connectivity for users.

One practical application of this vision is Dynamic CX technology, launched last month. Built on self-organizing network (SON) technology, Dynamic CX can adapt in real time during demand surges, such as football matches in stadiums, proactively detecting and responding to changing conditions without requiring customers to report issues first. In its autonomous network research, T-Mobile is also advancing network slicing technology. Currently, T-Mobile has deployed 20 network slices, including applications in large-scale events, with the next goal being the creation of dynamic slices to provide dedicated connectivity services with minimal human intervention.

In terms of spectrum, T-Mobile holds a combination of low-band and mid-band spectrum. Facing growing threats from SpaceX and Amazon satellite services, Kapoor emphasized that the ability to handle high demand in crowded stadiums is something SpaceX cannot currently achieve. As T-Mobile's 5G advantage over AT&T and Verizon normalizes, the company is seeking to maintain or expand its market position through an AI-driven autonomous network strategy.
