Wedoany.com Report-May 11, Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) has secured full approval for its 99 MW Ladyfield Renewable Energy Park, an onshore wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Scotland. The project received consent from both local and national authorities, marking a significant step toward enhancing renewable energy capacity in the region.

In December 2024, the Argyll and Bute Council planning committee approved the project, following a supportive recommendation from a planning officer. The decision was bolstered by strong community backing, with numerous letters of support and no formal objections. The Scottish Ministers finalized the approval last week through the national Energy Consents Unit (ECU).

The Ladyfield project, set to connect to the grid before 2030, will generate approximately 58.5 MW of wind energy and include a 41.4 MW BESS to stabilize the grid. Both components have a 40-year operational lifespan, contributing to Scotland’s renewable energy goals.

Marjorie Glasgow, co-founder and chief executive of RCE, stated: “We are thrilled that the Scottish Ministers have granted planning permission for our Ladyfield Renewable Energy Park. We have enjoyed working with Argyll and Bute Council and the Energy Consents Unit to get to this point. Above all, we have greatly appreciated building relationships within the Inveraray community, driving forward the Inveraray Pier Project, and finding new ways to make a meaningful difference locally.”

RCE has actively engaged with the Inveraray community since the project’s inception, fostering trust and collaboration. The company supported Inspire Inveraray in raising over £244,000 to purchase and restore the Inveraray Pier, which reopened to the public in April 2024. Additionally, RCE funded “Warm Spaces” initiatives in Inveraray and Dalmally, supported improvements at Nicoll Hall for Inveraray Senior Citizens, and contributed to the Breakfast Club at Inveraray Primary School.

The Ladyfield Renewable Energy Park is poised to deliver clean energy and grid reliability while strengthening community ties. RCE’s commitment to local engagement and sustainable development underscores the project’s role in supporting both environmental and social objectives in Scotland.
