en.Wedoany.com Reported - Pakistan LNG launched a tender last Wednesday to procure a 140,000 cubic meter LNG cargo on a delivered ex-ship (DES) basis, with a delivery window set for July 15-16. BP Singapore submitted the most competitive bid at $18.2345 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).

BP to supply another batch of spot LNG to Pakistan

According to an evaluation report released by Pakistan LNG on Friday, three companies participated in the bidding, including BP Singapore, TotalEnergies, and PetroChina International. TotalEnergies quoted $18.7200 per MMBtu, while PetroChina quoted $18.5991 per MMBtu. Pakistan LNG did not specify whether it accepted BP's offer, but reports indicate the company has accepted the price to meet the urgency of domestic power demand.

Prior to this tender, BP Singapore had already offered the lowest prices in multiple spot tenders. Two weeks ago, TotalEnergies Gas and Power, a subsidiary of France's TotalEnergies, quoted $17.3700 per MMBtu in a tender to supply a spot LNG cargo for July 10-11 to Pakistan. In an earlier tender, BP Singapore quoted $16.7372 per MMBtu for a spot LNG cargo for June 30-July 4, and $19.1337 per MMBtu for a spot LNG cargo for June 6-7.

The latest tender came after Nakilat's Q-Flex LNG carrier Al Rekayyat was hit by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz last Tuesday. The vessel was carrying LNG from QatarEnergy's giant Ras Laffan LNG complex, which was attacked in March. Most of Pakistan's LNG supply comes from long-term contracts with Qatar. In May, Pakistan received three LNG cargoes from Qatar via the Strait of Hormuz, the first since the start of the Middle East conflict.
