en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 13, China's first ethylene C9 toluene disproportionation unit was successfully commissioned and has been operating stably at Northern Jinjiang Petrochemical Company, having produced a cumulative total of 1,023.56 tons of qualified benzene products and 2,196.99 tons of xylene products.

The unit adopts a new generation of disproportionation process technology and catalysts, significantly enhancing its capacity to process indane compounds and C10 aromatics. Through hydrodealkylation reactions and alkyl transfer, the unit converts heavy C9 aromatics into high-value products such as benzene, toluene, and xylene, making it China's first disproportionation production unit to achieve value-added utilization of ethylene C9 and toluene resources. As a key facility for increasing aromatics production and improving quality, the unit can stably supply high-quality pure benzene and light ethylene feedstock to Jilin Petrochemical Company, effectively revitalizing heavy aromatics resources and extending the value chain of the industry.

Pile foundation construction for the unit officially commenced on July 20, 2023, and mechanical completion was achieved on December 30, 2024. The entire process flow was fully connected at 16:40 on June 23, 2026; on June 24, all indicators for benzene products met standards; on June 25, refined C9 material was routed to the unit's xylene column T-8602, enabling simultaneous feeding of both toluene and refined C9 feedstocks; on June 30, pure benzene products were successfully integrated into the external pipeline network, marking the successful initial commissioning of the unit.

Currently, all operating parameters of the unit have stabilized and become controllable, with key indicators such as product purity and feedstock conversion rate steadily reaching design standards, laying the foundation for the unit's long-term safe, stable, efficient, and economical operation.
