en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 2026 International Water Association (IWA) World Water Congress & Exhibition is scheduled to take place from October 4 to 8, 2026, in Glasgow, UK. The congress theme is "Water Action – The Path to Resilient Prosperity," and it is expected to attract approximately 10,000 participants, including water professionals, utility leaders, scientists, engineers, policymakers, businesses, and young water practitioners.
The preliminary program includes around 100 technical sessions and 60 workshops, in addition to keynote speeches, plenary debates, expert forums, business forums, technical tours, social events, and a comprehensive international exhibition. The congress will focus on six core technical themes, covering climate resilience, digital transformation, public health, resource recovery, water security, and innovation in water and wastewater systems.
Co-chairs of the Congress Program Committee, Professor Amy Pruden and Professor Zhiguo Yuan, stated that the program balances technical excellence with real-world relevance, covering the full water cycle and providing a platform for discussions on resilience, sustainability, innovation, governance, and public health. Event co-chairs Peter Simpson and Alex Plant believe the congress will offer a platform for discussing the role of systems thinking in water resilience, sustainable growth, public health, and environmental protection, emphasizing the need to make decision-makers aware of the importance of systems thinking in protecting and improving global access to clean water and sanitation.
Kizito Masinde, IWA Director of Global Events, stated that the congress is a unique space for the global water community to come together, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among utilities, researchers, policymakers, and innovators to accelerate progress toward a more sustainable and resilient water future.
