en.Wedoany.com Reported - RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service) has secured a consultancy contract valued at INR 79.22 crore (approximately INR 792.2 million) from Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited to provide advisory services for the implementation of the Patna Metro Rail construction project. The consultancy assignment spans 68 months and aims to offer implementation advisory for the expanding metro network, supporting efficient project execution and sustainable urban mobility.
RITES, as the lead partner, obtained the contract from Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited through a consortium. The scope of consultancy includes construction supervision, implementation assistance, stakeholder coordination, quality monitoring, and ensuring compliance with relevant specifications and timelines during project execution.
The Patna Metro project aims to transform urban transportation in Bihar's capital by connecting major residential, commercial, and institutional areas through a modern rapid transit system. The metro network consists of two strategically planned corridors: Corridor 1 from Danapur Cantonment to Khemni Chak, spanning 17.9 km with 14 stations; and Corridor 2 from Patna Junction to New ISBT, covering 14.5 km with 12 stations. Together, the two corridors form an integrated urban transit system capable of serving thousands of daily commuters.
The project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on major urban corridors, reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality, promote transit-oriented real estate development, stimulate local economic activity and tourism, create direct and indirect employment opportunities, and enhance city-wide connectivity and daily commuting experiences.
Recently, the Chief Minister of Bihar inaugurated the Malahi Pakdi Metro Station, marking significant progress in the expansion of the city's metro network. The consultancy contract awarded to RITES represents another important milestone in the development of the Patna Metro Rail project.
