en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) of Peru, through Ministerial Resolution No. 279-2026-MINEM/DM, granted a temporary permit to La Quebrada 2 S.A.C., a company affiliated with the Celepsa Group, to conduct the feasibility study for the "La Quebrada 2 Wind Farm" project. The wind power project is located in the Marcona and Nazca areas of the Nazca Province, Ica Region, with an expected installed capacity of 112.1 MW.
The permit is valid for 24 months, starting from the date of publication of this regulation. During this period, the company must advance the feasibility study in accordance with the schedule submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Mines. The General Directorate of Electricity (DGE) evaluated the application and confirmed that the company meets all requirements set forth in Article 30 of the Regulations of the Electric Concessions Law (approved by Supreme Decree No. 009-93-EM), as well as the corresponding administrative procedures in the Ministry of Energy and Mines' Single Text of Administrative Procedures (TUPA).
This authorization is based on Article 23 of Law No. 25844, which allows investors to conduct technical studies prior to applying for a final concession for the construction and operation of power projects. If the company fails to complete the study or does not comply with the approved schedule upon the expiration of the 24-month period, the authorities may execute the performance guarantee in accordance with Article 36 of the Regulations of the Electric Concessions Law. This mechanism aims to ensure the effective use of the temporary permit and prevent prolonged stagnation of approved projects. The project is expected to increase wind power supply by leveraging the favorable wind conditions on Peru's southern coast, an area considered suitable for such infrastructure. Upon completion and approval of the feasibility study, the company can proceed with the subsequent stages of the regulatory process to advance the final development of the wind farm.
