en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Polish Council of Ministers (Rada Ministrów) has adopted a resolution to participate in the European AI Gigafactory (Gigafabryki AI) initiative. The resolution allows Poland to purchase part of the computing capacity of the future AI infrastructure, which is one of the conditions for joining the EU project. The AI Gigafactory will provide hyperscale computing power and advanced artificial intelligence services to companies, scientists, and administrative bodies, serving as a driving force for the development of Poland's domestic AI ecosystem.
Deputy Minister of Digitalization Dariusz Standerski stated in a declaration that Poland has committed over 400 million zloty for the largest computing center in the country's history. It is now time for Polish enterprises to participate, as they will be able to take part in construction tenders. The AI Gigafactory will be designed and operated by a private consortium selected through a European tender organized by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). Member states and the EU must ensure the purchase of AI services in the initial phase of the infrastructure to enhance project predictability. Poland has committed to purchasing AI services worth 100 million euros between 2028 and 2033, with the EU providing an equivalent amount of funding.
In the first round of tenders, EuroHPC JU plans to select seven AI Gigafactories: four medium-scale (Lot 1) and three large-scale (Lot 2). Poland is bidding for the Lot 1 project. The infrastructure will be built in phases, starting with at least 25,000 AI accelerators (equivalent to Nvidia H100) and ultimately reaching a scale of at least 75,000 GPUs.

If the AI Gigafactory is established in Poland, it will be one of the largest artificial intelligence infrastructure investments in Europe, valued at over 10 billion zloty. The entire investment will be borne by the private consortium. The new infrastructure will support advanced AI model development, large-scale model training, industrial-grade data analysis, and provide computing capacity for startups and small and medium-sized enterprises. The Ministry of Digitalization is currently in consultations with EuroHPC JU and is negotiating declarations with member states regarding mutual purchases of AI services. The European tender is expected to be launched in July 2026, with consortia having 15 weeks to prepare bids. Contract signing is planned for early 2027, and the AI Gigafactory is expected to become operational in 2028.
