en.Wedoany.com Reported - AkzoNobel's aerospace coatings business has completed the main phase of a €22 million investment at its production site in Pamiers, France. The project aims to expand capacity, enhance technical capabilities, and support the plant's environmental goals, marking a significant step in the company's development at the site. This investment reflects AkzoNobel's long-term commitment to customers in the aerospace coatings sector. The upgraded plant will increase European production capacity, improve workflow efficiency, and support the ongoing development of next-generation coating technologies.

A key part of the project is the construction of a new warehouse, adding over 2,000 square meters of storage space for raw materials and finished products. The plant has also installed advanced temperature-controlled storage units to ensure optimal product preservation and more efficient inventory management. AkzoNobel has built a new 638-square-meter waste management facility equipped with a next-generation sprinkler system featuring zoned automatic detection and controlled intervention technology to enhance operational safety. In addition to the plant expansion, the company has modernized its quality control and production services. Upgrades to the quality control department include four new application booths and a dedicated isolation booth for chromate products, which is equipped with special insulation and a safety airlock passage. Eight new laboratory benches with integrated fume hoods have been added to the department, increasing quality control capacity by 166%. Production capacity has also been enhanced through measures such as installing new precision weighing systems, additional coating tanks, and a new automatic bead mill dedicated to next-generation chromate-free coatings. Redesigned workspace layouts and optimized work organization have further improved production flow, operational flexibility, and manufacturing efficiency.

Arnaud Charmetant, Plant Manager at AkzoNobel, stated that this investment demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to the aerospace industry. By modernizing the Pamiers plant, it not only enhances manufacturing capabilities but also creates a more sustainable and future-ready facility, helping to accelerate the development of advanced aerospace coating solutions. The entire development project is progressing as planned, with final building and equipment installation expected to be completed by the end of 2026, and an official inauguration ceremony scheduled for 2027.
