en.Wedoany.com Reported - Launched in 2006 by ArcelorMittal Brasil's Tubarão Unit (Unidade Tubarão) in partnership with government agencies, the "Novos Caminhos" Program (Programa Novos Caminhos) officially reached its 20-year milestone in July 2026. The project donates steel by-products Revsol® and Revsol Plus® to provide primary paving materials for rural and urban roads in Brazil.

ArcelorMittal is one of the world's largest steel producers, and its Brazilian subsidiary has long been committed to transforming industrial by-products into social infrastructure resources. Revsol and Revsol Plus are by-products of the steelmaking process, which, after treatment, can be used for road base and surface paving, offering low cost, easy application, and stable performance. According to statistics, over the 20 years since the project's inception, more than 7 million tons of paving materials have been donated, serving 71 cities and covering over 5,000 kilometers of roads—a distance equivalent to the straight-line distance from Vitória, the capital of Espírito Santo state, to São Luís, the capital of Maranhão state. The project has improved transportation conditions in rural areas, facilitating the transport of agricultural products and residents' access to basic services such as healthcare and education.

As part of a new phase, the "Novos Caminhos" project has officially launched a unified service platform (Portal de Atendimento), centralizing applications from municipal governments and partner agencies in a single digital environment. The platform supports demand tracking, contract renewals, document inquiries, user management, and real-time interaction with the project team, aiming to enhance process efficiency, increase information transparency, and simplify overall management.

This project serves as a benchmark in Brazil's steel industry social investment sector, demonstrating the sustainable application value of industrial by-products in infrastructure construction and providing a replicable model for improving rural roads in Brazil.
