According to the company, this interconnection project will enhance the flexibility and reliability of the power grid and reduce generation curtailment. The project was awarded in the first transmission auction of 2023 by the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). Plans include building one substation, expanding two existing substations, and constructing two transmission lines totaling 507 kilometers. The project's Annual Permitted Revenue (RAP) is 248 million BRL, with energization scheduled for March 2029.

Dayron Urrego, Executive Director of Projects at ISA Energia, stated that obtaining the preliminary license for the project is crucial, as it will strengthen the power infrastructure needed for economic growth in Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, and create over 4,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction. The project has been included in the priority infrastructure project list of the New Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). It plans to install over 995 transmission towers (approximately 29,000 tons of metal structures), more than 1,000 kilometers of lines, and 35 500 kV shunt reactors.
