Galway Company in San Francisco, USA Plans to Convert Restaurant into Two Residential Units
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Galway Properties II plans to transform the vacant restaurant space on the ground floor of an apartment building in San Francisco's Mission District into two new residential units. The project, located at 2401 16th Street, aims to increase the number of dwelling units in this small residential property.

The renovation plan was drafted by My My Ly Architect. The existing three-story building already has two units above the restaurant space. According to the plan, the number of units in the building will double after the renovation. Each of the two new units will include a living room, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms, while the upper floors will remain unchanged.
Built in 1909 in the Classical Revival style, the building was originally constructed for James Larkin. According to a historical assessment drafted by Tim Kelley, Larkin operated a soft drink business during Prohibition as a common front for a bar until 1940. The assessment concludes that the property is eligible for listing on the California Register due to its association with the San Francisco Seals baseball team. The Double Play Tavern opened in 1944, located across from the original Seals Stadium, which was demolished in 1959.

The property is located at the intersection of 16th Street and Bryant Street, across from Franklin Park soccer field and the Potrero Center shopping center, anchored by Safeway. Estimated costs and construction timelines have not yet been announced.
