Chairman of China Changan Automobile Meets Thai Prime Minister, Discloses Progress of 9 Billion Baht Thailand Factory

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Changan Automobile, as the only Chinese automotive brand invited, attended the 2026 Thailand-China Investment and Economic Forum and the opening ceremony of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) Chengdu Office held in Chengdu. Chairman Zhu Huarong disclosed the company's latest business progress in the Thai market during the forum and held meetings with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Industry Minister Warawut Silpa-archa, BOI Secretary-General Narit Therdsteerasukdi, and Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei.

During the meeting, Zhu Huarong stated that since entering the Thai market in 2023, Changan Automobile has achieved cumulative sales of over 41,000 vehicles, contributed more than 1.6 billion baht in taxes, created over 1,900 local jobs, and achieved a local talent localization rate of nearly 90%. The company has launched 13 new energy vehicles in Thailand, including the Avatr 07, Changan Deepal S05, and Changan Qiyuan Q05. Its Rayong factory, with an investment of approximately 9 billion baht, serves as Changan's first overseas new energy vehicle production base, achieving localized production of the Changan Deepal S05 and Changan Qiyuan Q05, with products exported to 18 countries including Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia. Zhu Huarong stated that Thailand will become Changan's regional manufacturing headquarters in Southeast Asia, with the company aiming to achieve annual sales of over 70,000 vehicles in Thailand by 2030, ranking second among Chinese brands and fourth in the overall market.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul highly praised Changan Automobile's achievements and contributions in Thailand, regarding it as a key partner in driving Thailand's new energy vehicle industry. At the forum, Wu Xiaokang, Deputy General Manager of Changan Automobile's Southeast Asia Business Division, shared investment and operational experiences, noting that Thailand boasts a mature ASEAN automotive industry cluster, a well-established parts supply chain, and significant geographical advantages, making it an ideal gateway to the global right-hand drive market. Changan will uphold its commitment of "In Thailand, for Thailand" and strengthen its regional headquarters operations.

In April 2026, Changan Group released its "1445" strategic framework, strengthening the "Sea-Nurturing Plan 2.0," with the goal of ranking among the top ten global automotive groups by 2030. This plan marks a strategic shift from "going global" to "taking root locally," propelling Changan towards systematic global operations encompassing manufacturing, trade, investment, services, and sustainable development, with Southeast Asia as a top priority and Thailand as the core market. On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, Changan Automobile reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its presence in Thailand.
