New Premium Smart Electric Vehicle Brand to Launch Electric Two-Seater #2 at Paris Motor Show in October

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The new premium smart electric vehicle brand Smart is set to launch the all-new electric two-seater #2 at the Paris Motor Show in October, marking the brand's return to its two-seater city car roots. Previously, Smart had gradually phased out two-seater models as the brand shifted focus to crossovers and its first sedan.

The production version of the #2 closely resembles the concept car previewed earlier this year. Externally, the production model features a revised grille and vertical air curtains, along with more conventional side mirrors and side skirts. It is equipped with traditional door handles and a larger charging port cover. At the rear, the new car features a redesigned tailgate with a license plate recess, a spoiler, and a relatively understated rear bumper.

Smart states that the #2 is currently undergoing "rigorous pre-production testing and validation" to ensure the model delivers "unparalleled urban agility, driving stability, excellent NVH performance, and uncompromising safety." To this end, prototypes have already undergone multiple "real-world urban challenges," and engineers continue to refine the model.

Regarding tires, Smart tested various rubber compounds on rough asphalt, grooved concrete, and high-speed straightaways, aiming to select a tire that achieves "the optimal balance between low rolling resistance (for maximum range) and excellent noise reduction."

According to previously disclosed information, the #2 will be built on a new Electric Compact Architecture developed specifically for electric vehicles. The model targets a 35.7 kWh battery pack, offering a range of approximately 186 miles (300 km). When the battery is low, DC fast charging can replenish it from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes.

In terms of dimensions, the #2 has a length of 109.9 inches (2,792 mm) and a turning radius of 22.8 feet (6.95 meters). This makes the new car 3.8 inches (97 mm) longer than the second-generation ForTwo.
