en.Wedoany.com Reported - The National Port Authority (APN), under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) of Peru, and the National Port Committee of Guatemala have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the port sector between the two countries.
The objective of this memorandum is to consolidate cooperation between the port authorities of both countries, promoting the development of port systems towards a more modern, efficient, and sustainable direction through joint initiatives and the exchange of management experiences. In accordance with their respective competencies and regulatory frameworks, Peru and Guatemala will coordinate actions in areas such as port governance, energy transition, decarbonization, waste management, circular economy, digital transformation, innovation, port security and safety, and port-city integration.
The signing ceremony was attended by Abel Alvarado Huertas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of APN; Leonel Molina Cabrera, General Manager of the National Port Committee of Guatemala; and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. This agreement is the result of a coordination process between the technical bodies of both parties, supported by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two countries will promote the exchange of information, technical tools, agreements, and good practices, while also carrying out training programs, seminars, conferences, research, and expert exchanges to strengthen port sector capacities.
