en.Wedoany.com Reported - Samsung Electronics has established a new robotics-dedicated organization directly under the CEO—the "RX (Robotics eXperience) Business Promotion Office"—aimed at centralizing the company's dispersed robotics technology and personnel, enabling integrated management from R&D to commercialization. Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that through this organizational restructuring, it will cultivate the robotics business as a core pillar of future growth.

Under the reorganization plan, the robotics business promotion system will be directly overseen by the CEO. R&D, data acquisition, global research bases, and business strategy are consolidated under one organization, with the core goal of improving decision-making efficiency from technology development to commercialization.

The RX Business Promotion Office will primarily operate from the Seoul R&D Campus in Umyeon-dong, Seoul. Samsung Electronics plans to centralize the office locations of robotics-related personnel and continue investing in offices, laboratories, and other work infrastructure necessary for development and commercialization. At the Gumi business site, a "data factory" will be built to acquire and utilize data for robotics learning and field applications, linked with the research organization at the Seoul R&D Campus to advance robot intelligence and control technology development, laying the groundwork for actual field deployment.

In terms of overseas R&D, Samsung Electronics will establish research bases in the United States, China, and Japan, leveraging local robotics technology and industrial ecosystems while actively expanding its talent pool in related fields. The mid- to long-term strategy for the robotics business will be led by Executive Vice President Lee Dong-gun of the planning team, who has been appointed as the head of the Robotics Strategy Team under the RX Business Promotion Office. Lee Dong-gun previously worked at Hyundai Motor Group, where he was responsible for the group's robotics strategy, including the operational direction of Boston Dynamics.

External experts have also been brought in. Professor Kim Hyun-jin from Seoul National University and Professor Kim Ui-gyeom from Ajou University will join the RX Business Promotion Office. Kim Hyun-jin's research focuses on intelligent autonomous robot systems and robot control, while Kim Ui-gyeom is an expert in robotic hands and manipulation. Samsung Electronics plans to further recruit experts from various fields to enhance its robotics technology and commercialization capabilities.

Previously, at the end of 2024, Samsung Electronics decided to increase its stake in Rainbow Robotics to 35% and established a Future Robotics Promotion Group directly under the CEO. The equity acquisition was completed in March last year. At that time, the focus was on developing future robotics technologies, including humanoid robots. With the establishment of the RX Business Promotion Office, Samsung Electronics will now have a comprehensive promotion system covering mid- to long-term strategy, technology development, and commercialization.
