Wedoany.com Report-May 21, Slovenia’s government has greenlit a spatial plan for a 30 MW solar project, poised to be the nation’s largest solar array. The Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Energy named Dravska Elektrarna Maribor as the project’s investor.

The solar array will span the municipalities of Starše, Hajdina, Gorišnica, and Markovci in northeastern Slovenia. The spatial plan paves the way for securing a building permit to initiate construction.

The project includes eight units—five in Zlatoličje and three in Formin—each equipped with its own transformer station and interconnected for efficiency. A Ministry spokesperson said: “The project will enable synergy between the solar power plant and existing hydroelectric power plants, to optimize the use of renewable sources and improve the stability of the network.”

In 2024, Slovenia installed 298.8 MW of solar capacity, mainly through residential systems, reaching a total of 1.4 GW. This project advances Slovenia’s commitment to sustainable energy development.
