en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Spanish government has published a ministerial order in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado) updating the National Frequency Allocation Table (CNAF), adjusting spectrum allocations in accordance with international agreements and expanding available frequency resources to support applications such as the new European railway system, while accelerating 5G network deployment.

In this adjustment, the 1,900-1,920 MHz band has been reallocated to critical applications in the railway and public safety sectors. Specifically, the 1,900-1,910 MHz range will be used to deploy the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) based on 5G technology, providing operational communications between trains, drivers, and railway control centers, thereby modernizing Spain's railway infrastructure. The 1,910-1,920 MHz band is allocated to government drone operations, ensuring dedicated frequencies for public interest tasks involving security, emergency response, and civil protection.
In the 3,800-4,200 MHz band, frequencies previously used for fixed satellite services have been reassigned to 5G-based mobile communications. The specific allocation plan is as follows: the 3,800-3,920 MHz range provides local broadband connectivity for low-power and medium-power systems under a licensed and self-supply model; the 3,920-4,020 MHz frequencies are reserved for the Ministry of Defense; the 3,920-4,120 MHz range is used for self-supply electronic news gathering to facilitate event broadcasting; and the 4,020-4,120 MHz frequency range provides local broadband connectivity for low-power and medium-power systems under a self-supply model. This reallocation will allow industries, ports, hospitals, logistics centers, and research institutions to deploy their own private 5G networks without fully relying on traditional telecom operators.
The new frequency allocation table also incorporates decisions from the 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference, as well as those from the European Commission and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT). Key new adjustments include: additional frequency allocations for Earth observation satellites collecting scientific, meteorological, and environmental information, and authorization of the 18.1-18.6 GHz, 18.8-20.2 GHz, and 27.5-30 GHz frequencies for inter-satellite communications.
