This milestone reflects the large-scale application of EPS technology, which has gradually replaced hydraulic steering systems since its introduction in 2001, becoming a core component in modern vehicle design.

Unlike hydraulic systems, EPS only consumes energy when active steering assistance is required, thereby significantly reducing overall vehicle energy consumption and CO2 emissions. This efficiency advantage meets original equipment manufacturers' stringent demands for energy efficiency and emission reduction targets. Ramiro Gutiérrez, Senior Vice President of ZF's Steering Business Unit, stated that the 100 million units milestone underscores the company's leadership in steering technology, with EPS having become an efficient, scalable, and software-supported industry standard.

ZF's EPS product portfolio includes three mechanical configurations: Column-Drive, Dual-Pinion, and Belt-Drive, catering to diverse needs ranging from compact passenger cars to high-performance SUVs and light commercial vehicles.
