en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 2GW photovoltaic power plant project in Fores, Saudi Arabia, jointly undertaken by China Energy Engineering International Group, Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd., and Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., has achieved a significant milestone with the successful positioning of the first main transformer, laying the foundation for subsequent electrical equipment installation and system commissioning.

The 10 main transformers required for this project are supplied by Siemens Energy, which will support the construction of this key renewable energy project in the Middle East. The Siemens Energy project team worked closely with the owner in the early stages to complete technical clarifications and design approvals. During production, Siemens Energy's Guangzhou transformer factory coordinated supply chain management and production processes, strictly controlling quality. The first main transformer passed type tests ahead of schedule, and ultimately all 10 main transformers were delivered early, ensuring the project progressed as planned.

The first 110 kV main transformer installed has a unit capacity of 230 MVA and a total weight of approximately 225 tons. It adopts a mature design, offering high efficiency and reliability, capable of meeting the long-term stable operation requirements under Saudi Arabia's high-temperature and harsh conditions, helping to safely integrate large-scale solar power into the grid.

Located in Mecca Province, Saudi Arabia, the Fores 2GW PV power plant project is part of the country's energy transition strategy. Its scope includes design, procurement, manufacturing, civil construction, equipment installation, and system commissioning. Once completed, the project is expected to generate a cumulative 569.286 billion kWh of electricity over its 25-year operational period, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 560 million tons, thereby supporting the optimization of the local energy structure and promoting green and low-carbon development.
