Sungrow Delivers Nordic Region's Largest Energy Storage Project

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sungrow announced that the largest battery energy storage station in the Nordic region has officially entered commercial operation. The Ånge energy storage project in Sweden has an installed capacity of 70MW/160MWh and is fully equipped with Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 integrated energy storage solution. The project was developed and constructed by Delta Capacity, with its core role being to stabilize the local power grid and match Sweden's continuously expanding renewable energy installed capacity.

Located in Ånge Municipality within Sweden's SE2 electricity bidding zone, this centralized energy storage station features targeted adaptations to ensure stable operation under the Nordic region's variable climate and extreme temperature differences. The station can rapidly respond to grid frequency regulation demands while leveraging the Nordic electricity market for peak-valley arbitrage, generating diversified revenue streams.

Sungrow stated that this project is a landmark in Sweden's energy storage infrastructure development. Multiple supportive policies have been introduced locally, allowing energy storage assets to participate in the grid peak-shaving balancing market and generate revenue, significantly driving the deployment of the energy storage industry.

Samer Nameer, Country Manager for Sungrow Sweden, noted that the Ånge energy storage project fully demonstrates a standardized deployment model for large-scale energy storage projects, featuring a short construction period and installed capacity tailored to market demand, which is also inseparable from high-quality partners like Delta Capacity. Sungrow is willing to continue serving as a long-term technical partner to support the expansion of Sweden's renewable energy industry.

The Ånge energy storage station is owned by a joint venture between WOOD & Company's renewable energy sub-fund and Delta Capacity, with the latter overseeing the entire project process—from design to grid connection and commissioning. Commercial operation was achieved just 15 months after equipment procurement began.

Patrik Hes, CEO of Delta Capacity, stated that the pace of the Nordic energy transition continues to accelerate, and supporting infrastructure construction must keep up. Sweden has ample domestic renewable energy resources, but there is a significant gap in grid regulation flexibility, which this energy storage station precisely fills. The team plans to accelerate and scale up energy storage project construction, as the energy transition process cannot afford delays.

Acquired from RES in February 2025, the energy storage project also involves partners including Stenger & Ibsen Construction, Rejlers, Green Power Monitor, Solvina, and Ellevio, with electricity trading and market optimization fully managed by Centrica Energy.

Sungrow noted that the grid connection and commercial operation of this energy storage station coincide with the rapid expansion of Sweden's energy storage market and the acceleration of the energy transition. According to data from SolarPower Europe, the total new energy storage installed capacity in Sweden and Finland in 2025 exceeded 1GWh.

Currently, Sungrow has established 25 offices, two R&D centers, and 26 warehousing bases across Europe, providing comprehensive support for the implementation of renewable energy projects in various European countries.
