en.Wedoany.com Reported - Australian shipbuilder Incat has completed one of the most challenging marine loading operations ever undertaken in Tasmania, with catamaran Hull 096 safely loaded aboard the heavy-lift vessel "Black Marlin" and ready to depart for South America.

The loading operation took place on the Derwent River. The semi-submersible heavy-lift vessel ballasted down and submerged in the deep-water section of the river, after which Hull 096 (named China Zorrilla) was towed over the submerged cargo deck. Black Marlin then began to refloat, gradually lifting Hull 096 clear of the water in preparation for subsequent sea-fastening. Due to adverse weather conditions, the operation, originally scheduled for the previous day, was delayed by 24 hours and completed today (July 31).

Incat stated that this successful loading represents years of planning, design, engineering, and construction work at the Hobart shipyard, marking a significant milestone in the project's progress.

Incat Chairman Robert Clifford said seeing Hull 096 aboard the Black Marlin was a moment of pride for all project participants. He noted that the vessel challenged convention at every stage of its construction, representing the ingenuity, determination, and craftsmanship of the hundreds of people involved. Clifford also mentioned that Hull 096 has attracted international attention during its construction, reflecting the growing global demand for large-scale sustainable ferry technology—technology designed and built in Tasmania that will soon be deployed on one of the world's busiest ferry routes.

Over the coming days, Hull 096 will remain aboard the Black Marlin while final sea-fastening and operational preparations are completed. The heavy-lift vessel will then depart from Hobart, and upon arrival in South America, the catamaran will be discharged, undergo final commissioning, and be delivered to Buquebus for service on the Río de la Plata route between Uruguay and Argentina.
